Operating a stocktaking franchise has given me more spare time, which I try to fill with sports as much as possible. I’m often found playing racquet sports like tennis, squash, or padel, or watching football and cricket matches. I keep myself busy socially, frequenting bars and restaurants (while discreetly assessing their stock practices!), enjoying walks with my wife (and our new baby), or spending time in the garden.
The demand for the services as a Stocktaker is generally high, depending on your location, so concerns about starting a business with no client base should be relatively low. There’s enormous potential to grow your business to the size you desire, and the flexibility is unparalleled compared to other careers. Being self-employed has been an incredible journey for me, offering various advantages over traditional employment.
I decided to become a Stocktake UK franchisee as I wanted to have a job nearer to home, as I was working in London at the time wanted to have my own business. This was in August 1996.
Over the years my business had changed from being mainly small pubs and clubs, to Golf clubs and multi site operations alongside smaller sites. I like this mix as you are in a totally different business every day, which gives you variety. Since the pandemic clients are more focused on margins and information so the analysis of the business has become more important than ever. Being self employed is good for flexibility of time, but sometimes not so good if you take on too much work and end up working longer. Its a tricky balance because you never know what’s around the corner to effect your business.
Franchising with Stockcheck allows you to build a business with minimal risk and all the support needed for success. The extensive experience and support from other stocktakers are always available, making it a wise choice for anyone looking to join the industry.
Becoming a Stockcheck Franchisee has been the best decision and opportunity I’ve taken. While there is a financial investment, but with hard work, self-motivation, and effective communication, there can be rewarding benefits not only for oneself but also for the businesses and lives of others, bringing daily satisfaction and purpose.
I love being self-employed! It’s the best career move I’ve ever made. I’m in a unique position where I enjoy being able to provide the financial figures and advice on a regular basis, which client’s need in order to maximise profits. This is most rewarding.
As a Stocktaker in South East London, my business grew very rapidly from the very start. My first two customers 12 years ago are still customers today. I work long hours during the week but have most weekends off. The best part of running my own business is being in control of my hours and of my workload. I enjoy visiting a different client everyday and have a good mix of customers which vary from 5 star hotels to local bars..
This profession is a brilliant way to stay connected with the hospitality industry and assist others in thriving. It offers the flexibility to manage your own earnings potential and diary without the long hours and stress that often come with front-line hospitality roles.
