Starting a new business can be exciting, but it can also feel daunting particularly when you are entering a specialist industry.
That is why our two week stocktaking training course is designed to give new business starters the practical knowledge, confidence and understanding they need to begin building their own hospitality stocktaking business.
Whether you are completely new to professional stocktaking or already have previous experience, our training gives you the opportunity to learn our approach, understand our systems and gain valuable hands on experience before working independently.
The most important requirement is strong hospitality knowledge and experience. Our two week training course will teach you the skills and systems needed to carry out professional stocktakes, but the wider understanding of hospitality comes from having worked within the industry. This knowledge is invaluable when working confidently and effectively with hospitality businesses.
Two weeks of practical, hands on training
This isn’t simply a classroom based course or online learning.
Over two weeks, new business starters receive practical, hands on training designed around the realities of carrying out professional stocktakes in hospitality venues.
The course covers the complete stocktaking process, from arriving at a venue and preparing for the stocktake through to counting, recording and reporting the results. New business starters learn how to work accurately and efficiently work across different types of hospitality businesses, including pubs, restaurants, hotels and bars.
The emphasis throughout is on developing the practical skills and confidence needed to carry out a professional stocktake to the required standard.
Learning from experienced stocktakers
One of the most valuable parts of the training is learning from people who understand the stocktaking industry.
New business starters can benefit from the experience of working alongised established stocktakers and gain an understanding of the practical challenges they may encounter when working with hospitality operators. It’s an opportunity to ask questions, learn from real world examples and understand not just how to count stock, but why accurate stocktaking matters to a hospitality business. Training therefore covers the wider role of the stocktaker and the importance of producing accurate, useful information for clients.
Training on our specialist systems and software
Technology is an important part of modern stocktaking.
As part of the two week course, new business starters are introduced to our systems and specialist software they will use as part of their business. Our technology is developed in house and is unique to our stocktakers, it has been fine tuned over many years and is regarded as one of the best in the industry.
The training includes understanding how information is recorded, processed and reported, helping ensure you are comfortable with the technology before beginning to work with clients.Having established systems in place also means new business starters don’t have to spend their time developing their own stocktaking processes from scratch.
Two weeks is just the beginning
While our initial training course lasts two weeks, our support does not end when the course finishes.
We understand that everyone learns at a different pace, and we don’t expect someone to finish two weeks of training and suddenly know everything. If you feel you need additional training, further practical experience or extra support, we will continue to work with you.
Whether that means spending more time on particular aspects of stocktaking, going through our systems again or providing additional hands on training, we will continue to support you until you feel confident and ready to work independently.
Our aim isn’t simply to get you through a two week course. Our aim is to make sure you are confident in your ability to carry out professional stocktakes on your own and develop your own business into a succesful enterprise.
